Sugar – why do I limit it?
Not because sugar is forbidden, but because steady energy feels so much better.

Sugar is not the enemy
I don’t believe in forbidden foods. Fruit, a piece of chocolate or a birthday cake can be part of a balanced life. What I limit is added sugar that sneaks into everyday meals, drinks and snacks.
The energy rollercoaster
Added sugar raises blood sugar quickly and lets it fall just as fast. The result is often tiredness, irritability and new cravings an hour later — and it becomes harder to listen to real hunger.
Where hidden sugar hides
Flavoured yoghurts, granola, sauces, dressings, juices, ‘healthy’ bars and coffee drinks often contain more sugar than we expect. Reading labels quickly shows the difference.
How I do it
I sweeten with fruit, cinnamon, vanilla or PureVia, and I combine sweet foods with protein and fibre. That is why the recipes in L’Harmony Kitchen keep the taste while keeping energy steady.
